Lorrie Bortner
Lorrie’s paintings are created from the intuitive level. She likes to have a mystical element as well as some humor. In most paintings are animals nature, women or goddesses.
She was born in Philadelphia, received an MFA in painting and an MA in education, has received various grants and has worked on many public art projects. Lorrie and her husband, also an artist, make Taos, NM their home.
Lorrie’s paintings are contemporary and vibrant. She has completed over 16 mural projects with youth in Taos. They are at the Taos Youth and Family Center, Taos Economic Development Center, and in Taos Schools. Lorrie
also creates colcha embroidery, an endangered art form. Lorrie has a book, Oasis in the Mountains; The Paintings of Lorrie Bortner, 1st World Publishing, 2009.
