joan white: april 1926 - September 2012
A resident of New Mexico since 1957, Joan lived life to its fullest and was an avid artist and won many ribbons for her art work at the New Mexico State Fair. She worked many years for the Lovelace Medical Center and served on the Lovelace Senior Board well past her retirement.
Joan worked with oils and wearable art over the years. She knew she had found her medium when she started working with gourds. Carefully enhancing their natural patina and shape with petroglyphs, beads, pottery shards, woven pine needles and leather, she interpreted the stories they told.
