CLAIRE HURREY
I’ve been painting for 40 years. I work in a series, where all paintings are
connected in concept, to explore my experience of life, which I strive to share with
the viewer. We are, like all creatures on earth, children of the land. The complexity
and beauty of survival in its interconnectedness and chance, interests me.
I have several bodies of work where I use the paint in different ways, from thick
and buttery for an up close tactile experience, to thin and transparent paint to create the illusion of space moving into the distance.
Four of my images have been the cover image for four established publications.
