LALITA OHAIR

Picture
Lalita Ohair is a New Mexico artist. She received a BFA from America University in Washington, DC., and taught art in Belgium, Kwajalein-a small island in the South Pacific and various cities in America. She traveled extensively to places like
Southeast Asia, Northern Africa, Central America, to name a few. She worked in the Education Department of the New Orleans Museum of Art, where she gave public lectures on their Asian Art collection.
Lalita returned stateside after over a decade and a half of travels she put
away her paintbrush for a while. Recently, after incubating her vision for some
time, she has reengaged the art making process, which was always her first love.
Today, in her art, she explores ideas of attraction, time and memory. Lalita is
fascinated by the mystery of attraction, which allows her to ‘see’ into a part of lifethat might have otherwise escaped her and that creates intimacy with what is ‘seen’. Her work is about sharing the story of these feelings and experiences through line, color, and gestures.
