Mary Tafoya was raised in Kentucky, received her B.A. in Fine Arts in 1983 from UNM, and teaches graphic arts. she discovered beadwork and its rich and ancient world traditions. She writies for Beadwork magazine. Online, she maintains Aunt Molly's Bead Street .
" Good beadwork creates a kind of hyper-reality, objects which seem to have their own consciousness. Working in bead embroidery, I draw from mythology, folklore, women's issues, childhood scenes in Kentucky and life in New Mexico."
