Rose Buffalo is known for her mixed media sculptures after creating her Corn Dolly figures for over 30 years. Seemingly to be in the folk art tradition, they are actually sophisticated art pieces that emanate a powerful presence. Dolly meant Goddess in ancient times and tiny wheat weavings were created to bless home, field and family. Her inspiration is from ancestral memories of family farms in the Dakotas and her Irish and Lakota heritage. She is scheduled for a one-woman show at Downtown Contemporary Art Center in March 2006.
